Marsai Martin is proof that power can come in small packages. The 14-year-old actress is not only starring but also executive producing Little, a fun body switching comedy. You may recognize Martin as the smart-mouthed, quick witted Diane from Black-ish. But in Little, she makes the transition from supporting character all the way to lead role.
According to the trailer, actress Regina Hall (Girls Trip, Scary Movie) stars as Jordan, a no-nonsense, take no prisoners head of a tech organization. Everyone’s favorite awkward, black girl Issa Rae stars as her overworked, under appreciated assistant, April.
But one morning, Jordan wakes up transformed back into a teenager, played by Martin, in a reversal of Tom Hank’s situation in the 1988 movie Big. In fact the movie acted as inspiration for Martin, who pitched the idea because of her mother’s love for the classic body swap comedy.
Due the bizarre events, Jordan and middle-aged mind get sent back to school while April must take over the company in her bosses’ absence.
In the trailer, Martin and Rae have an insane amount of chemistry, with Martin’s maturity and Rae’s remarkable wit.
Marsai pitched the idea for this film back when she was only 10-years-old. And at age 14, according to The Root, she’s set to become the youngest executive producers in Hollywood History. Which is insane!
The movie is set to release on April 12th. What was your favorite part of the trailer? Are you excited or REALLY excited to see this movie? Feel free to let us know below!
