Be Your Own Valentine With Self-Love And Care This February

February 14. The widely known St. Valentine’s Day is a holiday marketed to people to express their feelings of love, admiration, and adoration towards those they hold close.

While the day may be claimed by the lovers of the world, it does not have to exclude single guys and gals! V-Day is not just about couples: you can celebrate your family, friends, and yes, even yourself! Whether you’re an avid celebrator of the day, or a skeptic of everything the day represents, here are some ways you can treat yourself all the same:

Dive Into All of Your Favorite Things

Hit up some of those day-after-Valentine’s sales for candy or wine, take yourself out to the park, watch your favorite movies, or read that book you’ve been putting off. The list goes on as far as you let it. Whatever it is that you want to do to enjoy the day with yourself, do that. Think about the ideal way way you would like someone else to plan a day for you with all of your favorite things, and then plan it for yourself.

Assemble the Squad: Galentine’s or Palentine’s Day

If you don’t want to be alone, gather your friends for a night out or in. Go out for dinner and drinks, and dance the night away, or stay in with your favorite wine, bake cookies, watch Netflix, and clown out with people that you know will show you a good time.

Find Some Peace Through Pampering

Go to your favorite salon and indulge in a mani/pedi or spa experience. If you want to skimp on shelving out money at the spa, spend some time on YouTube to DIY face masks, pour yourself a bubble bath, and put on your favorite tunes. Go all out for yourself, you’re your own Valentine and you deserve the best!

Dress to Impress…Yourself

Wear that outfit that makes you feel like the bad-ass queen or king you are. Put on your favorite fragrance, your best kicks, and anything else that will have your confidence at an all time high.

Show Love to Someone Else

While it may not be a significant other, you can still show love to others. Send roses. candy, or a card to a friend or family member who may least expect it. Write a sweet little note of appreciation to someone at work, or even a stranger. This is a thoughtful gesture that could make someone else’s day.

Get Your Heart Rate Up

Find a local exercise class that sounds interesting to you. Get your body moving through a fun class like twerk fitness or trap yoga. Doing something to get your heart rate pumping will have you feeling confident like the boss you most certainly are.

Unplug

The greatest gift you can give yourself that does not cost a thing is to unplug from technology —particularly social media—altogether. Focus on all the things you can do on Valentine’s Day with and for yourself. This will help you feel more present in your self-care and self-love experience on the day of love.
