Billy Dee Williams Will Reprise His Role As Lando Calrissian In Star Wars: Episode IX

Billy Dee Williams has officially confirmed that he will reprise his role in the Star Wars franchise as Lando Calrissian.

Lando made his character debut in Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back (1980) as an old space gambling buddy of Han Solo and Chewbacca.  We also find out that he was the previous owner of the famous Millennium Falcon.  It is Lando who was responsible for the capture of both Solo and Princess Leia at the end of the movie.  He helps to free them in the final installment of the trilogy, Return of the Jedi (1983).

Williams has kept up with his character outside of the Star Wars universe in other media such as Robot Chicken and The LEGO Movie.

Donald Glover recently took on the role as a younger Lando in the latest Star Wars origin film, Solo, but in recent years many fans expressed disappointment to see Williams left out of the newer additions to the series such as The Force Awakens. However, it seems now we will get to see our pal in the new trilogy!

Star Wars Episode IX also stars Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, and Oscar Isaac and is set to release December 20th, 2019.
