Daylight savings time has officially hit, meaning longer days of sunlight and warm weather are just around the corner – all of the things it takes to bring you out of hibernation.

Now all you need is the right playlist to put you in that unapologetically carefree mood. Here are some perfect springtime bops to get you started!

‘Almeda’ x Solange

“Brown liquor
Brown sugar, brown face
Brown liquor
Brown sugar, brown braids
Black skin
Black Benz, black plays
Black molasses, blackberry the masses”

Let’s just say the entire When I Get Home album should be included on this playlist. Obviously, we would be remiss not to mention the gift that Solange blessed us with to wrap up Black History Month. Solo’s album drop on March 1 seemed to send a message that black history is more than just a month and we’re celebrating this blackness from now until forever!

‘Binz’ x Solange

“I just wanna wake up on CP time
Wake up to that n—-, leave he behind
Get a presidential suite, leave with they linen
In the Rolls that’s rented, windows tinted”

Another tune from our songstress Queen and it is a big mood that will have you in the mirror getting your life.

‘Freelance’ x Toro y Moi

“No more shoes and socks, I only rock sandals
I can’t tell if I’m hip or getting old
I can’t hear you, maybe you could change your tone
People tend to listen when they see your soul”

The latest installation into the Toro y Moi catalog is his album Outer Peace. On it, you’ll find all the tunes that will make you want to get up and dance, like this jam.

‘Mushroom Chocolate’ x QUIN & 6LACK

“With the top down, let me look in your eyes
You know every second of yours is all mine
I know what to do with my love if it’s right
I know what to when you’re lookin’ that fine”

A cutesy song for those car rides at night with the one you love…or like.

‘Juice’ x Lizzo

“I be drippin’ so much sauce
Got a bih lookin’ like RAGÚ (Ooh, baby)
Lit up like a crystal ball
That’s cool, baby, so is you”

If you didn’t know, get familiar. Lizzo is THE ONE when it comes to feel-good jams, and this song is no exception. Don’t sleep.

‘Pedigree’ x Ari Lennox

“See a n—- please act like you know
Won’t sit around here stressin’ on no old”

The perfect short anthem about an old thang who does not deserve you. Good sis and Queen of Dreamville Ari Lennox came through with this jam, but truly when does she not? Basically, it’s a new season so leave those old things that mean you no good in the cold where they belong!

‘Pour Me’ x Elle Varner feat. Wale

“Won’t you pour me one more?
One more, one more, one more
I’m thinkin’ ’bout you, been drinkin’ ’bout you
Might even hit the dance floor”

Many have long awaited Miss Varner’s comeback after the success of her first album Perfectly Imperfect back in 2012. Yes, 2012. Well, she’s here to show and prove that she hasn’t gone anywhere with this catchy tune just in time for spring.

‘After the Storm’ x Kali Uchis feat. Tyler the Creator, Bootsy Collins

“Someday we’ll find the love
‘Cause after the storm’s
When the flowers bloom”

Kali gives us a smooth, retro, and uplifting tune for those moments when you may want to give up on yourself. Bootsy is on the song, so obviously you’ll want to dance, too.

‘Tints’ by Anderson .Paak x Kendrick Lamar

“I been feelin’ kinda cooped up, cooped up
I’m tryna get some fresh air
Hey, why you got the roof off, roof off
You know it never rains here”

Also known for feel-good vibes, Anderson .Paak kicked off his latest album Oxnard with a song perfect for riding around in good weather with the windows down and music blasting. He may need tints, however but could use the fresh air.

‘Wasteland’ x Tierra Whack

“My presence is a gift (Gift)
Don’t you act surprised (‘Prised)
Breaking all these hearts (Hearts)
This should be a crime (Yeah, uh)”

Mood, all spring and summer ’19.

‘RPG’ x Kehlani feat. 6LACK

“You told me I’m beautiful ’cause I told you, you don’t tell me enough”

If you need a song that will put you in your feelings this spring, this can be it. This is your one. That’s it.

‘I Got the Juice’ x Janelle Monae

“I got the juice
I’m the chaser, don’t need a mixer
I got the juice
Baby, I’m the plug and the filter
I got the juice
How many damn times I got to tell y’all?
I got the juice”

Janelle blessed us with an anthem for letting loose and owning our fabulous selves. Clearly, there’s no way you can turn this song on and not get lit.

Sunflower x Post Malone and Swae Lee

“Then you’re left in the dust
Unless I stuck by ya
You’re a sunflower
I think your love would be too much
Or you’ll be left in the dust
Unless I stuck by ya
You’re the sunflower”

As a result of the award-winning movie, we have this gem of a song. We are all unworthy of Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse, tbh.

‘Jewelry’ x Blood Orange

“Got big books but I’m broke (I’m broke)
N—-, I’m feeling myself”

First of all, the entire Negro Swan album is an underrated classic that we haven’t talked about enough. This song is heavily layered. However, it comes through with the message that no matter what, through all of the injustices and problems life throws at us, we can still feel ourselves and be confident. A reminder for spring and all of the seasons that follow!
